Gather the joint strength of the 'two new cultural and artistic initiatives' and collaborate to build the brand together
From December 16, under the guidance of the Domestic Liaison Department of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Guangdong Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, with academic support provided by the China Artists Association, sponsored by the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the "Two New Literature and Art" Cluster Practice Base of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (Dafen Oil Painting Village, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province), the Practice and Innovation Base of the "Two New Literature and Art" Cluster in Guangdong Province (China Guanlan Printmaking Original Industry Base), and the "Walking to Beauty - 'Two New Literature and Art' Base Art Works Joint Exhibition" organized by the Shenzhen Artists Association were held at the Dafen Art Museum in Longgang District, Shenzhen.
This exhibition brings together nearly 200 outstanding works of art from national and Guangdong provincial 'Two New Art' practice bases, not only serving as a vivid implementation of the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles' deployment to 'extend work reach and expand work coverage,' but also as a concentrated showcase of the creative achievements of the 'Two New Art' groups in the new era adhering to the principle of 'serving the people and serving socialism.'
In recent years, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles has gradually established 31 practice bases for 'two new' literary and artistic clusters, encouraging and guiding each base to leverage its own characteristics through building mechanisms, creating platforms, introducing resources, and initiating projects. This aims to promote collaborative development among the bases, stimulate the creative vitality of 'two new' literary and artistic initiatives, and establish a healthy interactive and resource-sharing working pattern between the Federation and the bases. This joint exhibition, based on the realities of the Bay Area, unites and brings together the 'two new' forces in the national art community, integrates the strengths of various bases, promotes deep cooperation and collaborative development among the bases, jointly builds the 'two new' brand, advances the healthy and sustainable development of 'two new' literary and artistic initiatives, and contributes to building a high-quality new development framework for 'two new' literary and artistic work in the new era.
The exhibition includes two parts: invited works and works from the base, covering a wide range of painting styles such as Chinese painting, oil painting, and printmaking, with diverse themes and styles. The organizers also specially invited artists like Chen Xiangbo to present their masterpiece works. From depicting national development to expressing local sentiments, from innovating within the tradition of brush and ink to integrating technological elements across disciplines, the exhibited works not only showcase a high level of creativity with "profound thought, exquisite artistry, and excellent craftsmanship," but also reflect the sense of mission and responsibility of the "two new arts" in actively contributing to the construction of a culturally strong nation. They are also a vivid illustration of "inspiring talent through career opportunities and enabling talent to achieve success through their endeavors."
In the exhibition, visitors can see the colorful Longgang New City, the vibrant Tengger Desert Pastures, the lush Ecological Guanlan River, the elegant Seaside Garden Gulangyu, the deep and dreamy Birds and Fish, the majestic Mountain Dawn, the paper-cut-style Cantonese Food Chronicles, the weathered and desolate Pilgrim's Journey, the snow-covered Hongqilapu, the vividly colored Gongbi Peddler painting... Through these rich artistic expressions, visitors can not only feel the high-rise density of modern cities and the tranquil serenity of rural grasslands, but also experience ethnic customs and regional landscapes while traveling through the past and present and observing the world. As the painting styles shift, viewers' perspectives alternate between clear realism and surrealism, the misty aura of ink painting and delicate gongbi detailing, concise and abstract printmaking and rough, heavy mixed-media expressions.
In the base collection, the oil painting "Scattered Old Village Like Musical Notes" expresses the rebirth of developing rural areas amidst construction; the Chinese painting "Bay Area Splendor: The Great Yantian Port" depicts the bustling Yantian Port with details resembling pencil sketches, with the orange sky and ground particularly striking, a color contrast also evident in the Chinese painting "Urban Development: Pedestrian Street Renovation"; works such as "Green Wind," "City, Filter," "Memories of Jiangnan Series XI," "Memory in Drift II," and "Red Floating on the Plateau" explore oil painting techniques, with styles that are either light and translucent, dense and heavy, textured, or hazy and dreamy; the watercolor "Lost World Series - 102," acrylic on canvas "Warm Sunshine," fine art giclée "Fleeting Light Series 1," and mixed media "Ecological Senses NO.2" all appropriately showcase the strengths of their respective mediums while carrying profound meaning.
In the context of the comprehensive advancement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the accelerated construction of Shenzhen as a pilot demonstration area for socialism with Chinese characteristics, this exhibition carries a special mission and responsibility. As a window for the mutual learning of Chinese and foreign civilizations, the Greater Bay Area, and Shenzhen, as a pioneer in building a 'model of urban civilization,' share cultural traits of daring experimentation and openness, which highly resonate with the innovative vitality of the 'Two New Arts and Literature.' The exhibition showcases the 'culture + technology' ecosystem of the Bay Area, the ecological beauty of 'mountains and seas connecting the city,' and the vision of a 'humanistic Bay Area.' These not only vividly interpret Shenzhen's cultivation of new cultural productive forces but also represent a conscious effort of the 'Two New Arts and Literature' to take root in the era and celebrate developmental achievements.
This exhibition not only establishes a platform for artistic exchanges across regions and bases, further uniting and rallying a broad range of 'two new' art workers to listen to and follow the Party, but also demonstrates Shenzhen's leading role in the 'two new' art and cultural work. It raises expectations that the 'two new' art and cultural initiatives will further empower the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area with artistic achievements, support the construction of the pilot demonstration zone with cultural strength, and allow people to witness the innovative vitality of the 'two new' art and cultural efforts fully flowing in the field of contemporary art.
This exhibition is co-organized by 12 practice bases of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles' 'Two New Arts' gathering zones, including Jingdezhen City in Jiangxi Province, Haizi Art Center in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, Wucai Ceramic Town in Liling City, Hunan Province, Animation Creation Research Center in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, Dingsheng Cultural Industry Park in Chengde City, Hebei Province, Impression Jinan · Quanshijie Block in Jinan City, Shandong Province, Huaxin 1907 Cultural Park in Huangshi City, Hubei Province, Meitao Bay in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, Peninsula Art Center in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing City, Wuhou District in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, National Advertising Industry Park in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, and Minle Garden Cultural Street in Xincheng District, Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, as well as the 'Two New Arts' Practice and Innovation Base in Guangdong Province (Dongguan 33 Cultural and Creative Park).
