The Beautiful Buji in My Heart - Oil Painting Exhibition THE BELOVED BUJI IN MY HEART OIL PAINTING EXHIBITION Sponsors Dafen Art Museum, Longgang District, Shenzhen DAFEN ART MUSEUM,SHENZHEN Exhibition Venue | VENUE First floor permanent exhibition hall of Dafen Art Museum, Longgang District, Shenzhen. PERMANENT EXHIBITION HALL, FIRST FLOOR DAFEN ART MUSEUM, SHENZHEN Exhibition Time | DATE 2025.05.20—2025.08.17 Preface When the brush touches the canvas, the moment of colors and light intertwining reveals the soul of a city. Buji - this street, embedded in the geographical center of Shenzhen, carries over three hundred years of historical accumulation, the cultural roots of the Hakka people, the surging waves of reform and opening up, and the vibrant vitality of the new era. This exhibition, themed 'The Beautiful Buji in My Heart', showcases the diverse characteristics of this land through the unique perspectives and heartfelt strokes of artists, outlining a magnificent picture interwoven with history and the present, nature and culture, economy and art. As a pioneer of reform and opening up in Shenzhen, every turn of Buji is engraved with the marks of the times. The prosperity of Buji cannot be separated from the continuous investment in education and cultural care. The schools, libraries, and art museums within the area form the cornerstone of cultural dissemination, integrating art into community life. Together, they construct a 'wall-less museum' that allows observers to glimpse the past, present, and future of Buji. Buji is the spiritual home of the Hakka people. Hakka straw hats, round buildings, and dialect customs constitute a unique cultural gene. Buji is nestled against the hills to the north and connects to Luohu to the south, with the Buji River running through the city, creating a distinctive landscape of 'mountains and waters entering the city.' The rise of the Dafen Oil Painting Village has injected a new artistic soul into this land. The greenery of Shiyaling Park and the Tang and Song architectural styles of the Wenbo Palace together weave an ecological picture of livability and suitability for work. Today, Buji is both a protector of traditional Hakka culture and an incubator for contemporary art. In this exhibition, the artists use oil paint as a medium to capture the past, present, and future of Buji on canvas. These works are not only a depiction of the landscape but also a poetic response to the vision of building a 'Quality Buji,' serving as a heartfelt confession to the city. Here, history resonates with modernity, nature dances with culture, and economy coexists with art. Each piece is an interpretation and expectation of Buji by the artist—some grand, some delicate; some realistic, some abstract. May this exhibition become a window for more people to see Buji's resilience and warmth, innovation and inclusiveness; and may it transform into a seed that takes root and sprouts in the hearts of every viewer, together painting a magnificent new chapter of 'Eastward Gateway · Quality Buji.'
