Dana Smith
Very little is known about Dana Smith, whose paintings were discovered by Robert Bishop in a Germantown, Pennsylvania, shop and in Franklin, New Hampshire, during the early 1960s. Based on his dozen or so extant works, Smith favored a dramatic use of color and mostly painted landscapes of small New England towns in which railroads and bridges are prominent features.Lynda Roscoe HartiganMade with Passion: The Hemphill Folk Art Collection in the National Museum of American Art(Washington, D.C. and London: National Museum of American Art with the Smithsonian Institution Press, 1990)
